The summer language courses for international students are organised by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth of Albania in cooperation with local universities. The programme may include intensive language lessons (focusing on grammar and phonetics practice, vocabulary development, conversational skills, etc.) or a series of lectures on culture, history, literature and local realia. Before the course begins, students are usually divided into study groups according to their language skills, usually on the basis of a placement test. Classes, led by experienced native speakers, are often combined with an accompanying events consisting of guided tours, visits to museums and monuments, film evenings and theatre performances.
The Summer School of Albanian Language is organised each year by the University of Tirana from 1 September to 30 September.
The scholarship is funded by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth of Albania.
Under the current bilateral agreement, the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth of Albania decides on the admission of candidates. Information on the scholarship award is usually sent by the host country during the summer months; information on the organisation of the course is sent by the summer school organiser in early August.
