The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic (MEYS) offers scholarships to academic staff of Bulgarian public universities who wish to undertake study, research or lecture stays at one of the Czech public institutions of higher education. The scholarships are intended mainly to support the building and development of relationships between academic departments, to share professional knowledge and information, to gain experience in teaching abroad, as well as to carry out individual research activities. In all cases, the scholarship must be guaranteed by a Czech public university.
HOW TO APPLY:
Choose a Czech public institution of higher education, or its specific faculty, where you would like to carry out your study, research or lecture stay.
Fill out the scholarship application form according to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria.
Submit your application by the deadline set by the call (to be specified in agreement with the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria).
Keep track of the status of your application. You will be notified by e-mail of any status changes. Always check to see if you are required to provide additional information, etc.
HOW THE APPLICATION IS EVALUATED:
The scholarship is open to academic and research staff employed at one of Bulgarian public universities.
The amount of the scholarship varies according to the level of education achieved by the applicant:
The scholarship is intended to cover the costs of the stay in the Czech Republic, which the scholarship-holders pay themselves. Scholarship-holders may apply for lodging at student dormitories and can take meals at student catering facilities. Scholarship-holders are exempted from tuition fees.
PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP: The scholarship will be paid by the host university upon arrival and registration of the scholarship-holder at the faculty. The timing and method of payment varies from faculty to faculty – so please contact the host university/faculty directly if you have any questions.
MEDICAL CARE: Medical care for EU/EEA citizens who are properly insured in their home countries is provided in compliance with the European Parliament and Council (EC) Regulation No. 883/2004, as last amended, and its implementing Regulation No. 987/2009, as amended by Regulation No. 465/2012 - detailed information is available on the website of the Health Insurance Bureau. Please note that the expenses for repatriation are not covered by the provisions of the aforementioned EU Regulations, and it is therefore advisable to obtain an insurance policy to this end.
The MEYS does not reimburse travel expenses.
