The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic (MEYS) offers scholarships intended exclusively for students of Universidad Nacional de Ucayali in Peru, who wish to undertake study or research visits in forestry or agriculture at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague.
CHOOSING UNIVERSITY AND FIELD OF STUDY:
- Applicants are required to choose a field of study that is related to the field they studied in the past or are studying now at their home university/college. They usually attend courses that do not lead to the award of a degree (non-degree study courses) or pursue an independent research activity, depending on their academic qualifications and preferences.
- Enrolment in standard degree study programmes for the period of scholarship is also possible. The feasibility of this option depends on the host university.
- The terms and conditions of admission and requirements concerning the language of tuition are stipulated autonomously by the host university which take independent decisions whether or not each applicant can be accepted within the framework of the MEYS’ scholarship programme.
LANGUAGE OF TUITION:
- The primary language of tuition is Czech.
- Scholarship-holders can be admitted also to courses taught in English. Admission to courses and programmes with tuition in the English language is possible only on condition that the host university concerned decides, of its own volition, to provide a full tuition fee waiver to the prospective scholarship-holder. A substantial part of the scholarship is a subsidy provided by the MEYS directly to the host faculty to cover tuition.
HOW TO APPLY:
- Choose Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, or its specific faculty, where you would like to undertake your study stay.
- Before applying, check the requirements of your preferred faculty (e.g. which study programme you can be enrolled in as an exchange student, what documents the university requires, whether you need to register in the university's internal system, whether you can apply for accommodation in a dormitory, etc.).
- At the same time, we recommend that you contact the specific department/institute or other part of the university and request an Invitation Letter / Confirmation of Pre-Acceptance to be attached to your scholarship application. This document is not a mandatory attachment, but it significantly increases the chances of your being selected for a scholarship.
- Be sure to inform the host university that you intend to apply for the MEYS’ scholarship.
- Fill out the scholarship application according to the instructions of the Universidad Nacional de Ucayali. If you are successful in this selection process and are nominated for the scholarship by the Embassy of the Republic of Peru in the Czech Republic, you will be invited to complete an application in this system. This application will be further assessed by the MEYS and the host university.
- Submit your application no later than the deadline for the call.
- Keep track of the status of your application. You will be notified by e-mail of any status changes. Always check to see if you are required to provide additional information, etc.
HOW THE APPLICATION IS EVALUATED:
- The application will be assessed by the Universidad Nacional de Ucayali, which may return it to the applicant for completion if any information is missing. It will also propose the distribution of the scholarship quota among the applicants. The result of the assessment is a list of applicants nominated for the scholarship, and a list of substitutes.
- The list of applicants nominated for the scholarship and the list of substitutes is forwarded via the Embassy of the Republic of Peru in the Czech Republic to the MEYS, which may, in justified cases, propose a change of the scholarship period (e.g. if admission to the study programme preferred by the applicant is not possible).
- The MEYS will invite nominated candidates and substitutes to fill out the application form in this online system.
- The application form must be filled out in Czech or in English.
- Upload all the required attachments (in Czech or in English). Check the requirements for each document well in advance – some documents require a third-party signature.
- Submit your application no later than the deadline set by the MEYS.
- Keep track of the status of your application. You will be notified by e-mail of any status changes. Always check to see if you are required to provide additional information, etc.
- Applications submitted by individual applicants without a nomination from the Embassy of the Republic of Peru in the Czech Republic will be rejected.
- Applications are then sent to the university for consideration according to the applicants' preferences and/or the MEYS’ recommendations.
- The university will assess the relevance and quality of the application and decide whether to accept or reject the applicant. Please note that universities are autonomous in their decisions and there is no appeal against their decision. The university may contact the applicant directly to request more detailed information or to complete the documentation. For accepted applicants, the university will confirm:
- the date of the study/research stay,
- the study programme to which the applicant will be assigned,
- the language of study,
- whether he/she will be provided with accommodation at the student dormitory.
- The evaluation process result is:
- The scholarship award decision, which is issued by the MEYS. The decision determines the amount of the scholarship, confirms the host university and sets out the rights and obligations of the scholarship holder or
- Rejection of the application. There is no legal right to be awarded a scholarship and there is no right of appeal against the rejection of an application.
