The summer language courses for international students are organised by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Northern Macedonia in cooperation with local universities. The programme may include intensive language lessons (focusing on grammar and phonetics practice, vocabulary development, conversational skills, etc.) or a series of lectures on culture, history, literature and local realities. Before the course begins, students are usually divided into study groups according to their language skills, usually on the basis of a placement test. Classes, led by experienced native speakers, are often combined with an accompanying programme consisting of guided walks, visits to museums and monuments, film evenings and theatre performances. The International Seminar on Macedonian Language, Literature and Culture is organised by the Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje. The venue is the south-western city of Ohrid. The scholarships are allocated to Masaryk University on the basis of a quota, and their occupancy will be decided by the Rector's Office of Masaryk University. The scholarship application is submitted online via this platform. Successful (nominated) applicants will also be asked to submit a completed form provided by the Macedonian Ministry of Education and Science. The scholarships are funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Northern Macedonia.
The scholarship is used to cover the participation in the course and in the accompanying events, as well as the cost of accommodation and meals. The scholarship holders do not receive any payments.
