The summer language seminars for international students are organised by the Slovenian Ministry of Education, Science and Sport in cooperation with local universities. The programme usually includes intensive language classes (focusing on grammar and phonetics practice, vocabulary development, conversational skills, etc.) or a series of lectures on culture, history, literature and local realia. Before the course begins, students are usually divided into study groups according to their language skills, usually on the basis of a placement test. Classes tought by experienced native speakers, are often combined with an accompanying events, such guided tours, visits to museums and monuments, film evenings and theatre performances.
Basic knowledge of Slovenian is a prerequisit for applicants.
The Summer Seminar of Slovenian Language is organised by the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana.
The scholarship places are allocated to Masaryk University on the based on a quota, the Masaryk University Rector's Office will decide on their filling.
Applications need to be submitted through this platform. Selected applicants are then invited to complete an online registration form of the Slovenian partner (instructions for completion will be provided by the University of Ljubljana via the MoEYS), and pass a language test. The final decision on the acceptance of the nominated candidate rests with the foreign partner. Final results of the application proceedings will be announced by the foreign partner by the end of April.
Participation in the seminar is funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of Slovenia.
Selected applicants must complete an online interview with representatives of the University of Ljubljana.
The scholarship consists of free participation in the seminar, accompanying events, accommodation and meals. The scholarship holders do not receive any payments.
Travel costs are not reimbursed.
